Two-factor authentication – sometimes called 2FA, multi-factor authentication or MFA - adds an extra layer of security to online accounts because it requires more than just a username and password, but also some additional unique information.
2FA can be summed up as requesting “something you know” and “something you have”. For example, knowing your PIN and having your bank card to withdraw funds from the bank. There are now similar virtual solutions, so that as well as a password – something you know – to log in you will need to provide additional information such as a unique, one-off code sent to a registered mobile – something you have.
2FA is just one of the ways we help to keep your school’s systems secure. If you’re unsure about what this means for the solutions you use in your school or you want to learn more about it, drop us a line and our technicians will be happy to help.
